What is Glass PFM?
PFM stands for Porcelain Fused to Metal. Glass PFM refers to dental crowns or bridges where a metal base is covered with glass-like porcelain (ceramic) to look like a real tooth. It combines strength (metal) with natural appearance (porcelain/glass).
This product is mainly used in dental prosthetics (like artificial teeth), especially for patients needing tooth replacement.
Metal Framework Creation:
A strong metal structure is first created using nickel-chromium, cobalt-chromium, or other biocompatible alloys.
Porcelain/Glass Layering:
Over the metal frame, layers of glass-ceramic/porcelain are fused and baked at high temperatures.
Shaping and Coloring:
Porcelain is shaped and colored to match the patient’s natural teeth.
Final Polishing:
The crown/bridge is polished and checked for durability and color matching.
